Have I reached the allusive summit of peace yet?

Myth busting in the wellbeing world.

  • How I use my own vulnerabilities to enhance my business and fuel my passion to help others.

So after practising yoga for 20 years and teaching for over 7 years, am I an embodiment of serenity and mindfulness? Absolutely not and I hope never to claim to be, as then I may loose my sense passion and drive for all I teach and endeavour to achieve.

I wanted to post an image of me, mid house work, minimal make up, roots shimmering and sparkling in the light and bathroom cleaner to hand.

This is my life-so let's keep it real.

I have 2 amazing yet ‘willful’ and strong minded boys-11 and 8. An amazing, supportive but extremely busy husband and a hectic schedule in the home and with work. Also at 48 I’m throwing hormonal transitions into the mix! Who wouldn’t want to join this party..??

I was recently asked if I consider myself an example of 'mindfulness’.

If this implies I have reached the serene summit, a higher ground of harmony and inner peace…the answer is a candid no.

However I am diligently committed to developing my skills set and continue to learn through podcasts, books and CPD.

I am constantly inspired by all the brilliant families I meet, who endeavour to carve out time to prioritise their wellbeing. Taking good care of their mind, body and souls.

My aim is to embed yoga and mindfulness into my own life, as well as my families-whilst inspiring some of you lovely lot on the way.

How do my weeks look?

As I now work in a primary school in Trafford for 2 and a half days a week, I have decided to reduce the weekly after school sessions I offer. This way I can concentrate on both my son's busy schedules, as well as my main job at this school.

Sessions I currently run:

-Half termly Parent and child yoga and wellbeing (every 6 weeks at St Paul’s Church Hall-Heaton Moor-for children aged 5 plus).

-I am also available for one off bookings on Wednesdays-to teach in primary or secondary schools, run staff meetings on chair yoga and mindfulness or even teach yoga to Guides or Brownies.

-I am also available to teach private sessions in your home-for example parent and child yoga sessions, incorporating EFT and meditations.

-I now offer EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique/tapping) sessions, after completing a very intense and thorough online training with EFT international. I am still under supervision and am working my way through case studies, as well as logging my 50 practises.

Tapping is often explained as ‘psychological acupuncture’. It is a self applied stress reduction technique using elements of exposure-for example to a physical feeling or emotion, cognitive therapy and physical stimulation of acupuncture points. It is used to ease symptoms of stress, anxiety and depression.

I am excited to continue learning in this arena, sharing my findings with all who attend Greenshoots yoga classes. I also love gaining gems and nuggets of knowledge from friends, colleagues, customers and people in our local community.

Further details of my classes are on the ‘Learn yoga’ page of this website.

I hope to see you soon!

Claire
